In her own words . . .

I think I was born to be an advocate. My earliest memories include standing up to a bully on the school bus, and I have never stopped pushing back against injustice. Back then, the bully ruled with the threat of physical violence, and I received a black eye for my efforts. This experience helped shape the trajectory of my professional life, because I learned first hand that in the absence of the rule of law, brute force prevails.

Among my proudest professional accomplishments is helping to create, launch, and operate the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center from 2016 - 2022. In my role as Director of Education, I developed the Heritage Center's signature Freedom Conversation program where educators engage visitors in deep conversations about the impact of slavery in the present day. There, I was a thought leader in crafting and implementing systemic change in museum practices to forefront the voices of those directly involved in more than 400 years of resistance to oppression on North American soil.

The breadth of experience I bring to every project was fostered by the events of 9/11, which forced me to continuously reinvent my career while supporting my active-duty Army spouse as 'Household 6' through orders to seven states during more than 10 years of war. During that time, I was a founding member of the Military Spouse JD Network, where I worked with the New York State Bar Association Committee on Standards of Attorney Conduct to successfully advocate for licensing accommodations for military spouse attorneys.

I have held numerous non-profit board positions and am currently serving as President of The Traveling School, a place-based high school semester program with a mission to empower girls and gender expansive youth to spark change in the world.

The common theme running through each of the many phases of my life has been advocacy. From the school bus to the courtroom, there is no greater reward for me than to obtain justice on behalf of another.
